DEVELOP is a NASA Science Mission Directorate Applied Sciences Program that fosters human capital development to extend NASA science research to local communities. Students demonstrate to community leaders prototype applications of NASA science measurements and predictions addressing local policy issues. The activities are student led, with advisors and mentors from NASA and other partner organizations.

DEVELOP projects relate directly to twelve Applications of National Priority. These applications include Agricultural Efficiency, Air Quality, Aviation, Carbon Management, Coastal Management, Disaster Management, Ecological Forecasting, Energy Management, Homeland Security, Invasive Species, Public Health, and Water Management.

The DEVELOP Spring 2009 term application deadline is Monday, December 1, 2008. The Spring term is scheduled to begin on January 21, 2009 and end on April 1, 2009.
